On Raspberry Pi we design carrier boards for the Compute Modules rather than boards around the bare BCM2711 or BCM2712. The module carries the SoC, memory, storage and power, so the carrier is a simpler board and Raspberry Pi keeps the software. Modules sold as CM4 and CM5 compatible
| Module | CPU | GPU | NPU | Video | PCIe | Typical use | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CM5 | 4x A76 up to 2.4 GHz (BCM2712) | VideoCore VII | None | 4K60 HEVC dec | PCIe 2.0 x1 | Carrier boards: HMI, kiosks, gateways, industrial control | In production |
| CM4 | 4x A72 up to 1.5 GHz (BCM2711) | VideoCore VI | None | 4K60 HEVC dec, 1080p60 H.264 dec, 1080p30 H.264 enc | PCIe 2.0 x1 | Carrier boards: HMI, kiosks, gateways, industrial control | In production |
